M - Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions
See rules 87.2 and 88.2(a). The term 'race' includes a Race,
an Elimination (double and single), and Speed round.
M1 Notice of Race Contents
M 1.1 The notice
of race shall include the following information.
(1) the title, place and dates of
the race and name of the organizing authority;
(2) that the race will be governed
by the ISAF Funboard Racing Rules, the prescriptions of the
national authority when they apply, the Class rules , the
Sailing Instructions and any other applicable rules;
(3) the divisions to race, discipline(s)
scheduled, conditions of entry and any restrictions on entries;
(4) the times of registration, time
of initial briefing, time of first and last race, elimination
series or round;
M 1.2 The notice
of race shall, when appropriate, also include the following.
(1) ISAF approval and eligibility
requirements (see Appendix K);
(2) the category of the event (see
rule G2.3) and, when relevant, the additional information
required by Appendix G;
(3) the procedure for advance registration
or entry, including fees and any closing dates;
(4) an entry form, to be signed by
the board owner (competitor), containing words such as: 'I
agree to be bound by the Funboard Racing Rules and by all
other rules that govern this event'.
(5) The time and the place at which
the sailing instructions will be available;
(6) any changes to the racing rules
(see rule 86);
(7) changes to class rules, referring
specifically to each rule and stating the change;
(8) Denial of right of appeal subject
to rule 70.4;
(9) prizes, including any cash, cashable
prize and/or appearance payments totalling more than US $20,000
referred to in rule G5.3;
M 2 Sailing Instruction Contents
M 2.1 The Sailing
Instructions shall include the following information:
(1) that the race will be governed
by the ISAF Funboard Racing Rules, the prescriptions of the
national authority when they apply, the Class rules , the
Sailing Instructions and any other applicable rules;
(2) the schedule of races, the divisions
to race and the times of first and last possible start for
each division;
(3) the course(s) (not required for
Wave Performance);
(4) descriptions of marks, stating
the order and side on which each is to be left (not required
for Wave Performance);
(5) descriptions of the starting and
finishing lines, the starting system and any special signals
to be used (not required for Wave Performance);
(6) the scoring system to be used;
M 2.2 The Sailing
Instructions shall, when appropriate, also include the following.
(1) ISAF approval and eligibility
requirements (see Appendix K);
(2) the category of the event (see
rule G2.3) and, when relevant, the additional information
required by Appendix G;
(3) The course(s) to be sailed (not
required for Wave Performance);
(4) a complete statement of any changes
to the racing rules permitted by rule 86;
(5) changes to class rules, referring
specifically to each rule and stating the change;
(6) (missing);
(7) the registration procedure;
(8) measurement or inspection procedure;
(9) location(s) of official notice
board(s);
(10) procedure for changing the Sailing
Instructions including oral instructions;
(11) safety, such as requirements
and signals for personal buoyancy, check-in at the starting
area, and check-out and check-in ashore;
(12) signals to be made ashore and
location of signal station(s);
(13) the racing/competition area;
(14) Course diagrams and description
including start and finish lines;
(15) division flags;
(16) any special procedures or signals
for individual or general recalls;
(17) restrictions on use of support
boards;
(18) protest procedure and times and
place of hearings;
(19) Denial of the right of appeal,
subject to rule 70.4;
(20) information on water and air
temperatures, tides and currents;
(21) prizes, including prizes or other
benefits over US $20,000 referred to in rule G5.3;
(22) other commitments of the race
committee and obligations of boards;
