B2.3 Seeding and Elimination Procedure

The competition shall consist of one or more Single Elimination Series with not more than 4 (2 pairs) competitors in each heat. 5 (2 + 3) competitors maybe allowed in the first round only.

    A. SEEDING:
The initial distribution of competitors shall be either.
      i. distributed evenly by lot as described on the Wave Performance Distribution of Competitors A or B tables.
      ii. by first seeding the top 8 or 16 ranking competitors evenly as per the tables, drawing the remaining places by lot.
      ii. by such method as prescribed by the National Authority and/or as described in the Sailing Instructions.

    B. SUBSEQUENT SERIES:
The distribution in the second and subsequent series shall use the distributiontable and the preceeding results.

    C. ADVANCEMENT AND ELIMINATION:
Only the winner(s) of each heat progress to the next round.

    D. FIRST ROUND HEAT 'BYES':
If any, shall be allocated to the most highly ranked competitors.

    E. HEAT SCHEDULE:
The schedule of heats shall be posted on the Official Notice Board at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the first heat. It shall be the sole responsibility of each competitor to know in which heat he/she will be taking part.

  B2.4 Competion Area and Outside assistance

    A. CHECK IN:
Each competitor shall register their sail colours and particulars of the sail to be used while competing, to the race committee, at least two heats prior to their heat, unless the Sailing Instructions prescribe another identification method.

    B. COURSE AREA:

      
i. The competition area shall be defined in the Sailing Instructions and illustrated on the official notice board before the competition begins.
      ii. A competitor shall only be scored while sailing in the Course Area.

    C. CADDIES:
When a board suffers an equipment breakage during a heat, an assistant (caddy) may supply replacement equipment both in and out of the competition area, keeping clear of all other competing boards. A caddy shall attempt to remove from the competition area any abandoned equipment. A caddy may also assist with an equipment change.
