B - Slalom, Wave Performance, Freestyle and Speed
Slalom, freestyle and Wave Performance are organised on a
knock out basis.
PART 1 - SLALOM RULES
B1 Seeding
and Elimination Procedures
B1.1
SINGLE ELIMINATION PROCEDURE FOR SLALOM
The slalom discipline shall consist of a series of knock out
heats of not more than 12 boards. The top 4 competitors in
each heat qualify for the next round. The competition continues
until there is a Final of 8 boards. This may be amended by
a notice on the Ladder or Redress granted by the protest committee.
B1.2
ELIMINATION PROCEDURE
Elimination shall be in one, or time and weather
conditions permitting, more Single Elimination Series. The
Slalom Elimination Ladder A or B shall be followed in each
series.
B1.3
FIRST SINGLE ELIMINATION SERIES
(a)
The names of all competitors shall be distributed evenly by
lot in the round of the elimination ladder as shown on the
Slalom Distribution of Competitors A or B. The competitors
shall be put into heats of not more that 8-10 if beach starting,
or not more than 12 if water starting.
(b) The schedule of heats shall be
posted on the official notice board at least 30 minutes prior
to the start of the first heat. It shall be the sole resposability
of each competitor to know in which heat he/she will be taking
part.
B1.4
SEEDING
(a)
Where a slalom ranking table is established, places 1-16 in
the first round maybe distributed as specified in the Distribution
Table. The remaining places shall be distributed by lot.
(b) If there are
11 or fewer entries in a division, they shall all race together
in a series of 3 heats. These shall be scored as in B1.8(b).
For the purpose of scoring, one series shall equal one single
elimination series.
B1.5 SUBSEQUENT SERIES
The distribution in the second and subsequent
series shall use the distribution table and the preceding
results, instead of the drawn lot, to distribute the competitors.
B1.6 ADVANCEMENT AND ELIMINATION
(a)
The competitors advancing to the second round shall be the
first 4 finishers. Those finishing in fifth place or lower,
are eliminated from the single elimination series in progress.
(b) If the number
of participants in a heat, for any reason, is equal to, or
less than, the number advancing to the next round, that heat
will not be sailed and the participants qualified to start
in that heat shall advance to the following round.
B1.7 HEAT NUMBERING
The heats will be numbered as on the slalom
elimination ladder A and B if only 1 division is competing.
If more divisions are competing on the same course a consecutive
numbering will be used and the relative heat numbers on the
displayed Slalom Ladders will be changed to match.
B1.8 FINALS
(a)
LOSER FINAL: The Losers final maybe cancelled or run after
the Final, as time and weather conditions dictate.All the
losing semi finalists, including those recorded as DNS, DNF,
DSQ and RET may participate in the Losers Final.
(b) FINAL: The
final may consist of one, two or three heats. The race committee
shall announce the number of heats before the start of the
first final heat. If two or more heats are completed, they
shall be scored as a course race series. DNF, DNS, DSQ and
RET score the total number entered in the final heat. If three
heats are run, the worst result shall be discarded.
